It appears with todays news regarding the release of the iPhone, that the blogging community has uncovered that Google Apps is also releasing somewhat of an announcement on June 29th, as well. The little publicized, & clearly revolutionary new Google, app, the “street view”is enough techpeep to think that maybe a lot more is going to be released with this device than the companies are letting on.

Eric Schmidt was all but silent at d5 letting Steve garner more attention even while this new feature was being released. Also leaked in the last few days is a cleverly “doctored?” ad for a new, small macbook. The macbook mini, or mactablet graphic is shown below. The graphic was originally posted by tacojohn on Apple insider. Thanks John.

    Ha!

I seriously doubt this would be released.

The thinnest laptop is .8″ I believe, made by Dell. I could be wrong though.

I think that there is a rumour that makes more sense, brushed metal iMacs. There have been a lot of rublings about a new form-factor for the iMac, and the dropping of the 17″.

If they do indeed look like the cinema displays, they would be so cool.

Ahhh a macbook mini. Could it be true? Quizas. I think it may be in a matter of time, but .5 inches thick does seem a little thin.

The imac will likely drop the 17 inches too in my option, i have a 20″ g5 and with all the GUI, it is no really a lot of real estate for a desktop – i’d be just well off with a 17 mbp i guess. Well, i can’t afford that, but my point is the screen size is similar. In fact I think 15.4 is good, and if you want more, you need a second screen. Perhaps Leopard with the introduction of Spaces will help out alot. The technology is pretty much already in Linux and i have seen similar things in Windows machines in universities.

Well thx for posting, and 10/4 on the brused iMacs, say, check this out…

it costs about $100 to $200 depending on the design.

“Moving Parts Not Included” — It could be .5″ thin if it has flash memory for a hard drive. It makes sense if you think about it.

  4. 2.0 weblogs says:

    Hey Dan,

The flash drive would be very cool for quick start-up, quick storage, better battery life, etc.

The thing is, i heard that Toshiba maybe only came up with a 32 gig flash hardrive and it retails for A LOT.

but, who knows, maybe the disc is partioned with Toyota;s hybrid technology and the flash drive is only 50% or so of the hard drive. Either way, i think we will see a flash based hard drive mac book in the coming 12 months.

    Thanks for your comments.

  5. Zero Sum One says:

    @ Dan;

I’m sorry, but even with the flash drive, it still could not be half an inch thick. Guess the hard drive in the Dell laptop that I mentioned? Yeah, 32GB SSD flash. If they can’t get it any smaller, I doubt this would be the case.

They are not going to come in. I’m sorry, I wish that were true also.

There have been reports that Apple is looking into ways of making smaller and lighter laptops, but to me it just sounds like research and we won’t see anything come out of that for a while yet.

Simply a flash-based macbook? Likely. More likely, at least, than an ultra-thin model.

Still, if people hope for it enough, rumours will persist, despite no evidence.

i recently saw a comment that this a hybrid g4 screen with a compressed mac body, what do you think?
