Reasearch in Motion (RIM) is expected to bring its 9000 series of portable email devices into the touchscreen neighborhood within the first or second quarter of 2008.
This change will not only offer a new streamlined look (The iPhone look) it will enable faster typing and a modern aestetic that many consumer are looking for a in smartphones and a handheld device.
However, this does make a break from the Business, or “email machines” that RIM’s Blackberry has gained in brand equity over the last few years.
It will be more “consumer friendly” and less of an enterprise device. RIM plans to add MP3, Video, camera’s and likely many of the same if not upgraded features of the Blackberry Pearl, yet with a touchscreen. And how.
