We also reached over 15,000 views yesterday, added Digg, del.icio,us,bob thunk FARK, newsvine, and other RSS readers to the base of every posting starting yesterday. If you go back and check you will see a few more than that b/c i added them on popular posts.

What has ThunkDifferent done thus far?

Gotten the word out. The amount of news that Apple & readers like you come up with is astounding. It is so much fun to write about and thanks for the questions, i always love to get fan mail. i’m sure i will be better to keep better track of all of the other Apple RSS feeds now as i recent downloaded a news reader myself, turning 2.0 is a journey, not a destination. (or at least one i fully understand at this time anyway.)

What can we expect in the near future?

WWDC, Whatcha think?!

Oh hell, i don’t know. i think that leopard will (hope) surprise. i have been reading about its architecture on some of the developer blogs and they have some interesting things to say. i personally think that in the next year we will see smaller more energy efficient chips from intel and AMD, touch screen imacs, and a big update to .mac service with iphone integration into the laptops, Apple TV, and more Google apps.

Tell us about the iPhone.

Oh, just read my posts and the links about from two days ago, not hot off the presses, but as current & steamy as anyone else has.

Tell us more!!!

i will, just keep reading and asking questions and i will get back to you personally, i just added jaiku today too, so keep posted by reading one of the hardest things i am working on right now. The Thunk Different. Blog.

Apple & Google = Green $$$

June 7, 2007

al gore apple googleWith Apple sharing it’s board room with both a former vice-president, Al Gore, and Google CEO, Eric Schmidt it is easy to see how the cutting edge application and green movement have become an integral part of the Apple business plan. Face it, they are smarter than, “the smartest people in the room.” Is this new collaboration just the tip of the ice berg or is this it for Google and Apple, or Googapplications?

Breaking News! Apple releases two new Mac Book Pros

June 5, 2007

mack daddy pros

Apple announced Tuesday that it has updated its high-end MacBook Pro laptops with faster processors, better graphics and more memory space.

The laptops are still available in three models: two 15.4-inch versions that retail for $1,999 and $2,499, and a larger, 17-inch edition that costs $2,799. But with Tuesday’s update, the lower-end 15-inch model is now equipped with 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors (previously, it had a 2.16GHz chip); the higher-end 15-incher and the 17-incher now come with 2.4GHz processors, up from 2.33GHz. These new processors are indeed Intel’s latest Centrino–or “Santa Rosa”–chips, which were introduced in early May.

All three MacBook Pros additionally now can be upgraded from 2GB to 4GB of RAM (random access memory) at extra cost, and have faster Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT graphics cards designed for media-intensive animation and gaming.

The 15-inch models also have an energy-efficiency boost, with LED-backlit displays. Apple has touted these not only as power-saving but also mercury-free. (MORE – Source: Cnet)

Macdeals: $849 macbook – 23% discount.

May 18, 2007

The Apple Store is offering a refreshed line of refurbished Macbooks starting as low as $849.00. It’s a decent deal and there are others, except now they have juiced the 15.4 inch mac book pros up to 2 gigs of ram and tacking on another $500.00 for that, yikes! Usually the refurbished macs ebb & flow according to my observations, and at this point there are a whole bevy of ‘books ripe for the taking including iLife 06, 1 year warranty, Tiger OS X, free shipping, and a new best friend.

15.4 inch macbooks?

May 7, 2007

new macbookIt is reported by mac daily news that Apple, Inc. submitted a rather large order for a brighter, greener and better screen for the popular macbook laptop line. i’m thinking due to the exclusion of the 17 inch model, this accounts for an updated macbook line and not an updated macbook pro. This rumour shouldn’t be perceived as a negative view of the flagship laptop however, as i suspect grater things in store for the high-end mbp. What are your thoughts on this?

Yahoo & Microsoft.

May 4, 2007

Well… this could happen. It might happen. It hasn’t happened yet. But, What if it does happen? It is being reported that big daddy MSN is in talks with the Stanford owners who created the first great search company on the web. No, not Excite, not Lycos, and i’ll be damned if its Alta Vista, I’m talking about Yahoo. Yes, like the owners of Google, the creators of Yahoo also went to Stanford. Must be a good school huh? I think many academics and those on wall street would agree. The companies Google and Yahoo are both worth billions bringing in more billions every year, and millions every single day. No wonder Wall Street is smiling on Yahoo, Inc shares right now, as of 9:45 eastern this May 4th, the stock has raised 15% today alone. It looks like the Remond software giant is very serious about this bid. Apparently Microsoft was in talks a few months back and the offer of 50 BILLION was declined. I’m not sure what the full market value of Microsoft is, but that is more money than the GNPof many countries. For instance, the Chrysler arm of http://www.daimlerchrysler.com/ is valued at about 7 billion, and Rupert Murdoch is trying to buy the entire Dow Jones (wall street journal, index, etc) for 6 billion. The Yahoo deal is almost 10 times as large.

So considering how fast Google is tearing up on-line advertising, and how badly Microsoft is losing in search, I would not be surprised if the Redmond team hedges their losses with a company like Yahoo. It would bring added equity to Microsoft and give them a massive jolt in both on-line ad exposure and consumer confidence. Why? people like yahoo, not enough to switch from Google right now, but that could change just as people went to Google from Yahoo. So is MSN buys Yahoo, what will Mountain view answer with? A WWDC talk with Eric Schmidt and Steve Jobs? We might find out as soon as the second week.

3 office suites for mac home use

May 1, 2007

mac home officeI recently read an article on Macworld that i liked as it introduced some new software to me, as well as budgets for macs. The levels are $1500, $3000, and a $6000 budget. They don’t include taxes, or being smart and buying used/refurbished software. At any rate, check it out and tell me what you think. (Macworld Article)

Could iChat change the way we communicate?

April 30, 2007

Apple iChat. So ideal no? With its beautiful interface, 1 click ease, and universal application on every mac and pc on the globe. Wait, er… that last bit, yea, that was phooey.

I don’t really know ANYONE, that uses it… yet.

However it has recently been speculated that perhaps Leopard, Apple’s “codename” for OS 10.5 would include better support for this wonderful and infrequently used program. Would anyone else like to speculate on either .mac becoming part of Leopard in a limited capacity or other features that iChat might include?

Apple store in New York to be HUMUNGO.

April 27, 2007

“Apple has found the beef in the Meatpacking District, with the hip electronics retailer leasing a whopper of a store at 401 W. 14th St. – its third in the Big Apple,” Lois Weiss reports for The New York Post. That’s pretty hot. I have been to a few Apple stores in the US, and i have to say that the much hyped 24 hour one in New York isn’t really all that great. Sure it’s open to check e-mail or Google maps when your lost in the Big Apple, but the store is a little apple store. I wonder if the new store will be bigger than the one in London. A bird across the pond told me that store fills with “loads” of people every day, assuringly checking their e-mail, or looking up how to navigate the city to Brixton.
